Best Apps to Use When You PCS

With summer around the corner, you may be preparing for a PCS move or a family road trip. From coordinating the entire itinerary to packing the car full, we all could use a little help to ease the stress of traveling.

To make your journey easier, here are five apps to consider for your next trip:

Roadtrippers

As you map out your PCS route (more tips on that, here), consider Roadtrippers. Start on their website with their “Start New Trip” feature. Here you can plot your starting and ending locations, and explore cool sights, roadside attractions, national parks and other stops along the way. The app helps you explore and package everything together in one place.

Waze

A great traffic app to use on a road trip or daily life is Waze! The app provides guidance on traffic, navigation, gas stations and more and uses real-time road reports from drivers nearby to improve your daily commute.

Gas Buddy

With gas prices today, you need Gas Buddy now. Gas Buddy is a great resource for comparing gas prices, calculating trip costs, vehicle recalls and more! My favorite feature is their gas station “heat map,” where you can track gas price fluctuations and how to save money at the pump.

iExit

Have you ever been on a road trip and wondered what businesses or commodities are at your next exit? Desperate for a Starbucks, off-leash dog park or public bathroom? iExit is the app for you. You can use the app in real-time to find what you need, or plan in advance with their Interstate Exit Guides.

Hotel Tonight

When you PCS, you may perfectly map out your journey and book hotels in advance. But should your plans go differently, you can book last minute hotels with Hotel Tonight. This app offers exclusive deals and discounts, as well.
