Next up in our “5 Things I’m Loving Right Now” series, Groton!
J. Lima Massage Therapy

This is your sign to stop neglecting your self-care. I have mom guilt, so during my time off I feel like I have to overcompensate and do all things kids related. All the stress of life manifests in my body as muscle tension so this year I have made it a priority to schedule routine massages. I discovered J. Lima Massage Therapy (located near Starbucks in Mystic) based on a recommendation from another military spouse. I leave my massage appointment feeling like 10 years of stress has been pulled from my body. I do not recommend this place if you are looking for a relaxing spa like environment but if you are like me and need a therapeutic massage, you won’t find anyone better than Jess.
Pokemoto

Pokemoto is a stone throw away from base and a very popular lunch spot! The poke bowls are good, just ask my husband, he probably eats there three times a week… but that’s not why I’m loving them right now. Honestly, I rarely eat there. I go for their boba (or bubble) tea. I’m obsessed with Thai tea and theirs is the perfect afternoon pick me up. I work from home several days a week, so when I hit an afternoon low, I run to pokemoto for a boba Thai tea with tapioca.
UConn Avery Point

Nestled atop a hill overlooking the LI sound, UConn Avery Point is a great spot in Groton for a walk or a picnic. There are so many great places to visit for a hike or walk but currently Avery Point is at the top of my list. Be sure to check out the open air art installation on display until September 29th.
Tacquerio

Whether you’re looking for a taco for lunch or a happy hour spot, check out Tacquerio in Mystic (former MBar space). Sample a variety of tacos including allergen and vegetarian friendly options. I’m loving Tacquerio because of their patio. It’s pet-friendly and has a cornhole area. Grab the kids and the dog and check it out!
High Rollers Foxwoods

Growing up, one of our monthly activities was going midnight bowling with the cousins at the local bowling alley. Fast forward 30 years and I still love bowling. Recently, on a work trip to Chicago, I was introduced to the concept of an elevated bowling experience. Imagine the Top Golf concept, but for bowling. I was thrilled to find High Rollers at Foxwoods. Advertised as a luxury bowling experience, it did not disappoint! Whether you are there for dinner or a happy hour cocktail, you will have a lane side server attend to your needs. I’m loving this for a date night or friends night out. I would not suggest this as a family night out unless you have older children.
