Branch of Military: Navy

Current Duty Station: Bangor, WA

Q: Tell us about your business.

I run a private door-to-door car service from the Kitsap Peninsula (including Bangor Naval  Base) to SeaTac Airport & Seattle Cruise Terminals. I drive an 8 passenger Suburban with  double DVD screens, car seat anchors and all wheel drive. I’m a woman-owned and operated small  business in the PNW.

Q: What made you choose this type of business?

This is my second small business. I owned a Marketing Firm in El Paso, TX and when we  moved I started to consider what new opportunities I saw at this duty station. Ultimately, I  saw a need, and filled a need.

The Kitsap Peninsula is a transportation “desert” and I know as a military family, we don’t  have family here to run us an hour to the airport. Plus, with luggage and car seats, no  other service could support our transportation needs.

Q: How do you manage the work/life balance as a military spouse?

My business gives me the flexibility to work around my kids schedules, my husband‘s deployments and life. I accept clients/rides based on my availability.

Q: Any advice for fellow milspouses who want to start their own business?

Find a need, fill a need. And hire a good accountant.

Q: Favorite thing(s) to do in your current duty station?

Anything outdoors!! The PNW is my favorite spot in the whole country. I love hiking and  taking the foot ferry in Port Orchard to walk the waterfront.

Q: Where can we support and learn more about your business?
