Q: Tell us about your business.
I own a small shop called Crafty Teague. We first started this business with vinyl t-shirts and decals, and have expanded to new media’s throughout the years. We now do laser engraving and laser cut items such as custom door hangers, acrylic keychains and earrings and even coin holders. We are now trying out sublimation as well and we are so excited to expand to that area of interest!
Q: What motivated you to start your business?
I wanted to do something for myself and make money and contribute to the family. I take advantage of nap times and late bedtimes for myself to get stuff done. Sometimes it’s not easy balancing underways or deployments and orders along with two kids, but creating is what gets me through some days, like my therapy.
Q: Any advice for fellow submarine spouses who want to start their own business?
My advice to any submarine spouse who wants to start their own business is go for it! Take the risk and invest in yourself! It’ll all pay off. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from other makers and put your company name out there, you never know unless you try.
Q: Favorite thing(s) to do in your current duty station?
My favorite thing to do at our current duty station area is finally being able to drive around the mainland for road trips. We also enjoy having the beach at a short distance to run to and catch a sunset.
