Let’s be real, who doesn’t love a good donut? They’re versatile and can be the best breakfast or even a mid-day sweet treat. Check out these favorites in the Charleston area:
Glazed Gourmet Doughnuts (King Street)

Located in Downtown Charleston is Glazed. They specialize in gourmet donuts and aim to use fresh, artisan ingredients in order to create unique and tasty creations. The owner Allison Smith graduated from the Culinary Institute of Charleston and realized doughnuts were missing from the culinary scene in Charleston. She along with her boyfriend, Mark, brought her dreams to fruition and serve some of the best doughnuts in the Lowcountry.
Duck Donuts (West Ashley)

Bringing some of the yummiest donuts down from our neighbors to the north, Duck Donuts in West Ashley stays serving fresh and hot donuts daily. Despite the franchise and chain stigma, Duck Donuts has become an East Coast/Mid-Atlantic favorite. Born in the Outer Banks in 2007, they have become a staple in the donut community. My personal favorite: maple bacon.
Donut Connection (Goose Creek)

Celebrating their 25th anniversary is mom and pop shop, Donut Connection Goose Creek. This is the perfect place for early risers who want fresh, hot, yummy donuts, maybe a bagel, maybe a coffee, well they’ve certainly got it all. And if donuts aren’t your thing, they’ve got a variety of breakfast options and the coffee to wash it down with.
The Harbinger Café & Bakery (King Street)

A cozy café? Breakfast and lunch? Cakes, pastries, and doughnuts? Stop into The Harbinger Café and you might be surprised that you can get all of that in one cute, cozy place. The brain child of life long friends, The Harbinger Café has become one of the top places for foodies downtown. The also offer a variety of gluten free and plant-based options.
Joey Bag a Donuts (Mt. Pleasant)

With over a decade of experience serving the Lowcountry, Joey’s serves an array of bagels, breakfast sandwiches, cafe beverages and donuts. It’s the perfect place for a quick bite before a soccer game or a great spot to meet up with a friend for a cup of java. Joeys has become a local’s favorite and a haven for visitors.
