Growing up, my family and I spent a lot of time enjoying the theater-either with our own performances or attending professional performances. Attending theater and performing arts productions continues to be a favorite pastime of mine.
Below is some information on performing arts events in and around Kings Bay:
Located in Jacksonville, this center hosts a variety of venues and events. From the symphony, to musicals, comedy and family friendly shows-you will find a variety of activities are hosted here! We recently had the opportunity to see Aladdin as part of the Broadway in Jacksonville series and the FSCJ Artist Series. Some notable upcoming shows include Mean Girls in April and a Bluey show in July.
If you are looking for local theater performances, the Amelia Community Theatre is located on Amelia Island. Tickets for shows can be purchased online or by calling the box office. If you prefer to get involved in the theater, they have their upcoming auditions listed here. Upcoming mainstage events include Clue in February and Proof in April.
Also located on Amelia Island, the Amelia Musical Playhouse offers a variety of performance opportunities. Tickets for shows can be purchased online or by calling the box office. Upcoming auditions can be found both on their website and social media pages. As of this writing, Footloose is currently running, with Sunset Village scheduled for February and Something Rotten scheduled for March.
Located in St. Mary’s, this organization (formerly known as St. Mary’s Children’s Theatre) features Junior, Mainstage and Encore productions, as well as camps and theater classes. Upcoming performances for this season can be found here. Upcoming performances include the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Guys and Dolls, and Seussical Jr.
