Last week we kissed winter goodbye and welcome spring with open arms! The good news? Spring in the Low Country is nothing short of events. From foot races and food festivals to craft fairs and music concerts, there’s so many events to look forward to.
Here are five upcoming events we have our eyes on:
Cooper River Bridge Run

Saturday, April 2, 2022
Mt. Pleasant to Downtown
We’ve all driven over the Ravenel Bridge, but have you run across it? The famed 10k is back! The Cooper River Bridge Run is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Thousands of runners, walkers, and baby stroller pushers gather to move across the Ravenel Bridge, Charleston’s iconic bridge that links the town of Mt. Pleasant to Downtown. There are 6 race categories for every type of runner from the skilled runner to those who like to enjoy a more leisurely pace. The race begins promptly at 8am near Shem Creek. Keep in mind road closures and affected areas. And if anything, remember the race motto: “Get Over It.”
Flowertown Festival

Friday, April 1 – Sunday, April 3, 2022
Azalea Park, 105 W 5th S St, Summerville, SC 29483
One of my favorite events in the Low Country is the Flowertown Festival in Summerville. With a large selection of craft vendors, activities for the kids, and fair like-food and beverages, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon with the family. The event raises money for the Summerville YMCA. Located outside of Charleston and held in beautiful Azalea Park, a 12-acre oasis in the heart of town. Some craft vendors include handmade jewlery and goods for your furry family members. Even better? Free parking and free admission.
Charleston Jazz Festival

Thursday, April 21 – Sunday, April 24, 2022
Charleston Music Hall, 37 John St, Charleston, SC 29403
Charleston is not only known for its restaurants and hospitality, but for its music. This year’s festival will feature student musicians, local jazz groups, and internationally acclaimed performers including the Emmet Cohen Trio, the Jorge Luis Pacheco Quartet, Kandace Springs and Etienne Charles in multiple venues including Forte Jazz Lounge and the Charleston Music Hall. Tickets can be purchased for individual performances and packages are being offered for the whole weekend and/or select dates.
High Water Festival

Saturday, April 23 – Sunday, April 24, 2022
Riverfront Park, 1061 Everglades Ave, North Charleston, SC 29405
It’s back! North Charleston’s premier event, the High-Water Festival at the Riverfront. Nestled along the banks of the Cooper River, the festival includes headliners Jack White, My Morning Jacket, Modest Mouse, and many more. While the event may be sold out, you can put your name on the waitlist for unclaimed tickets. Merchandise is available online for purchase.
Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival

Sunday, April 24, 2022
Memorial Waterfront Park, 99 Harry M Hallman Jr Blvd, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464
Presented by Harris Teeter and the East Cooper Medical Center, the Blessing of the Fleet and Seafood Festival ushers in the start of the shrimping season in Charleston. Mt. Pleasant is home to Charleston’s leading seafood industry, after all seafood is synonymous with the Low Country. The festival features craft shows, a shrimp eating contest, and even a boat parade to support one of Charleston’s most vital industries and her boaters. Nothing beats wild caught shrimp!
