28 Places to Grab Thanksgiving in Hampton Roads

For military families living in the Norfolk and Hampton Roads region, there are some great options for dining in and eating out this Thanksgiving. From smoke house meats and grab and go pies, to buffets and river cruises, there is something for everyone.

Here’s what we have our eyes on:

Chesapeake

  • Black Pelican Greenbrier The Black Pelican is hosting their 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Buffet from 11am to 5pm on Thanksgiving Day ($40 per person, $20 per child under 10). Walk-ins are welcome, however reservations are encouraged! To book, call 757.424.3171.

  • The Butcher’s Son – The popular steakhouse is accepting orders for their Thanksgiving Take & Bake Butcher’s Box! Each box feeds two people ($135) with all the traditional Thanksgiving fixings. For more information, call your preferred location (VB or Chesapeake). Boxes must be picked up on Nov. 23, 9am-3pm.

  • Cracker Barrel – The beloved chain is offering several Thanksgiving to-go options, from smaller family gatherings of 4-6 to larger groups 8-10. You can also elect to only order holiday pies or side dishes. The restaurant will also be open for dining on Thanksgiving Day, beginning at 11am. There are three locations in the greater Chesapeake area, as well as Virginia Beach.

  • Metro Diner – Metro Diner is offering a Holiday At Home Feast to keep Thanksgiving delicious and simple with options for one, four or eight people (ranging $16-$119). Available at Chesapeake and Suffolk locations. Orders must be placed by Nov. 22. To pre-order online, click here.


Norfolk

  • Norfolk Naval Shipyard – Norfolk Naval Shipyard MWR Liberty is hosting a free Thanksgiving meal on Nov. 23 from 11am to 2 pm while supplies last at the Mariners Reef Liberty Center. There will be a football game playing on the big screen as well as ping pong or pool tournaments to participate in.   • Redwood Smoke Shack – Pre-order your Thanksgiving meats today! The Norfolk and Virginia Beach locations are offering a variety of meat packages, from turkey-brisket-pork butt ($269, feeds 30) to a classic smoked turkey breast ($79, feeds 8). Packages must be picked up on Nov. 22.

  • City Cruises Norfolk – Thanksgiving Day Lunch Cruise – Enjoy Thanksgiving on the water! While onboard, enjoy incredible views of the Navy’s Atlantic fleet, City Cruises’ distinctive hospitality, full bar service, and festive décor. The cruise boards at 12:30pm and runs 1pm-3pm.
    Cruise: 1:00pm – 3:00pm, tickets starting at $69 per person.

  • Saltine – Saltine is offering a dine-in Thanksgiving Dinner from 11am to 10pm, $45 per person. Indulge in a special Prix Fixe menu featuring a delightful blend of flavors, including Heritage Turkey and Cracked Pumpkin Pie. Make reservations today!

  • Omar’s Carriage House – Omar’s is offering a dine-in and to-go menu for Thanksgiving! For dine-in, reservations are required and dinner is offered 12pm-5pm ($46 per person, $20 per child under 10). For to-go, pre-orders must be placed by Nov. 21 and pick-up on Nov. 22 or 23 (meal for four, $175 or meal for 10, $350). To view the menus, click here.

  • Grain – Located on the rooftop of Hilton Norfolk, Grain will offer a Thanksgiving Day Buffet from 9am to 8pm. The menu features a variety of breakfast, seafood and holiday favorites such as omelets, littleneck clams and dry brined turkey breast ($40 for adults; $20 for children ages 6 to 10; free for children 5 and younger). Virginia Beach

  • Prosperity Kitchen and Pantry – Pre-order your freshly baked pastries, dinner rolls, pies and sides! Prosperity Kitchen has a great Thanksgiving menu including sausage or vegetarian stuffing, pimento cheese, and delectable toppings like their freshly whipped butter and whipped cream. Items must be picked up on Nov. 22 between 10am-2pm.

  • Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant – Swap the turkey for seafood at Captain George’s! The Virginia Beach and Williamsburg locations are hosting a Thanksgiving Day Brunch featuring unlimited crab legs at just $49.99 for the Adult Buffet, open from 11am to 8:30pm.

  • Black AngusBlack Angus is offering a full Thanksgiving to-go meal ($185) that feeds fours. The meal includes four pounds of roasted turkey, garlic mashed potatoes and gravy, traditonal stuffing, roasted vegetables, mac and cheese, cranberry sauce, rolls and pumpkin pie! Orders must be placed by Nov. 19 and ready for pick-up Nov. 22 between 122pm-6pm. Reheating instructions will be provided!

  • 21st Street Seafood Raw Bar– If seafood is more your style, head over to 21st Street Seafood for an all-you-can-eat crab legs and shrimp special for only $26.99!

  • Cooper Hawk’s Winery Chef Matt McMillin has planned an amazing “heat & serve” package for Thanksgiving, with all the delicious flavors and trimmings for your Thanksgiving table. The take-home kit (serves 6, $199.99) and includes pretzel bread and butter, butternut squash soup, traditional stufing, Mary’s potatoes, roasted green beans and carrots, slow roasted turkey with pan gravy and homemade cranberry sauce, and Eli’s pumpkin praline cheesecake. Pick up kits on Nov. 21 or Nov. 22, quantities are limited.

  • Williamsburg Inn – Savor your Thanksgiving with a long-standing tradition of well-crafted offerings from the kitchen of the Williamsburg Inn. Prepared by Chef Julianne Gutierrez’s talented kitchen brigade, dine from the holiday selections on this four-course prix fixe menu ($107.95 per person, additional $42.95 for wine pairings and $54.95 per child 10 and under).   • Williamsburg Winery – For all the wine lovers, celebrate Thanksgiving at Williamsburg Winery! The winery will host a full buffet with three seating times, 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Reservations are required so make them today! The buffet costs $75 for adults; $45 for children 12 and under; free for children under 3.


Other

There will also be more than five desserts to choose from and a chocolate fountain for dipping ($49.95 per person, $21.95 for children 6 to 11; free for children 5 and under).

  • Water Street Grille – The Yorktown eatery will offer a Thanksgiving Day Buffet starting at 11am. The buffet will include all the traditional fixings including a carving station with roasted ribeye, butter herb-roasted turkey and brown sugar glazed ham.
