One of the best things I did when my husband went on deployment was bond with the other spouses on his boat. A girls day was a perfect way for us to all come together to vent, laugh, cry—whatever we needed to do—and to just be there for one another. Sometimes a girls day is the perfect answer when you’ve had enough of Murphy (IYKYK)!!
Here are my top recommendations for San Diego:
Spa Day at Rancho Bernardo Inn
The Spa at Rancho Bernardo Inn is by far my favorite spot for a girls day. They have several different treatments to choose from: massage (indoor and outdoor!), facial, or nail care (manicure or pedicure). But what’s really fantastic is that with a treatment you get access to the pools outside, so while you’re there you can take turns going to your appointments while everyone else hangs at the pool. They also have poolside service for food and drinks as well as cabanas available for rent.
Wine Tasting at Bernardo Winery
I’m kind of a fan of the Rancho Bernardo area if you can’t tell! Bernardo Winery is a fantastic spot to visit. Not only does it have some history (it was originally opened in 1889!) but it also has fantastic restaurants, art studios, shops and live music. It is a wonderful place to enjoy how wonderful San Diego’s weather can be.
Sweet Treats at Extraordinary Desserts
They weren’t kidding when they said these desserts were extraordinary! This spot is one of my favorites. When you walk in you’ll be amazed by the most beautiful desserts… it’s always so hard for me to pick one! Not only do they have the best desserts but also a variety of beverages including wine, beer, coffee, hot chocolate, FROZEN hot chocolate, sparkling sodas and teas (I love the birthday cake tea!). There are two locations: One in Little Italy and one in Banker’s Hill (I prefer the Banker’s Hill location).
Dinner and a Movie at The LOT

If you haven’t been here yet this is a must! It’s a movie theater with restaurant service and the most comfortable reclining leather chairs. They also have a full restaurant and bar if you’d prefer to eat or have drinks before the movie. Not to mention the restaurant is actually really really good! They even have a custom flavored popcorn menu. There are two locations: one in Liberty Station and one in La Jolla.
Sushi With a View at Cannonball Sushi

Cannonball is probably my favorite restaurant in San Diego. It’s a rooftop sushi restaurant on Mission Beach. Nothing beats good music, sushi and an amazing cocktail by the beach at sunset with your girls.
Dinner in Little Italy
Little Italy is home to tons of fantastic and authentic Italian restaurants and patio cafes. I don’t think it’s possible for me to be sad if I have a bowl of pasta and a glass of wine in front of me. Here are some of my favorite spots for Italian there: Barbusa, Buon Appetito and RoVino.
Brunch at Breakfast Republic
There’s nothing better for the soul than a good girls brunch and Breakfast Republic is the place to do it. They have several locations all over the area to choose from too. Bloody Mary fans will drool when they see the Jurassic Bloody Mary and the fresh squeezed juice for their mimosas is *chef’s kiss*. Not to mention you can get a PANCAKE FLIGHT there where you can choose from flavors like churro, cinnamon roll, bacon oreo cookie, strawberry cheesecake, lemon coconut and pineapple upside down.
