6 Indoor Play Places in Hampton Roads

If you’re stationed in Norfolk, you may have noticed the month of May was unseasonably cold. And as we venture into the hotter months, indoor play spaces can be a nice respite. Thankfully the greater Hampton Roads area is nothing short of indoor play spaces!

Here are six to add to your list:

FunVille Indoor Playground (Chesapeake, Virginia Beach)

FunVille Indoor Playground is the ultimate indoor play center with two convenient locations in Hampton Roads, Chesapeake (jungle-themed) and Virginia Beach (ocean-themed). The indoor space includes a playground, designated toddler area, arcade and games, as well as a ropes course. Both locations offer all day play with admission. Memberships start as low as $15/month and they also provide a 10% discount for military, law enforcement, fireighters and first responders!

Catalillies Play Café (Williamsburg)

I took my toddler here and it was the perfect, calmer space we were looking for! If large indoor play spaces overwhelm your child, Catalillies Play Cafe is just the ticket. The indoor play space is designed for littles ages 7 and under, with a few climbing structures, riding cars, play rooms and even a sensory room. Admission includes unlimited access to their coffee and tea bar. The best part? The cafe has tables and chairs all within eye distance to your littles. So yes, you can sit down!

Children’s Museum of Virginia (Portsmouth)

Did you know the largest children’s museum is right here in Hampton Roads? The Children’s Museum of Virginia is located in downtown Portsmouth, and encourages children ages 1-11 to imagine, explore and discover together through play. The museum features several floors with imaginative play rooms, science experiments and more. My toddler loved the railroad room! Tickets are available online in one-hour entry windows, $10 for military members and families.

Sky Zone (Chesapeake)

Formerly known as Defy, Sky Zone Trampoline Park is an expansive indoor play space with 50 trampolines, launching decks, hoops, dodgeball and foam pits. The park includes a dodgeball court, ninja warrior course, skyslam and more. Tickets start at $22!

We Rock the Spectrum (Chesapeake)

Located in Chesapeake, We Rock The Spectrum is for all children focused on exercising and stimulating the seven senses through positive physical, emotional and social development. The gym includes suspended equipment with swings, crash mats and crash pillows, zip line, trampoline, climbing structure, sensory-based toys, arts and crafts area, calming room and a retail shop. The gym offers open play, classes and camps.

Polkadot Play (Virginia Beach)

Polkadot Play aims to create an accessible place for all children to play and learn. Neurodiverse children need a safe and supportive place to be their authentic selves. All children need the freedom to play, imagine, and stretch their bodies and minds. Polkadot Play is a place for children to have that freedom. The indoor play space offers designated toddler time, little movers, preschool play and imaginative playtime hours.
