As we wind down what’s left of 2023, we pulled together a list of some Christmas and New Year’s Eve dinners and events at every major submarine duty station:
Bangor, WA:
- Maynard’s: It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And it starts with Maynard’s Christmas Eve Dinner. Enjoy a classic honey-roasted ham dinner complete with garlic mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and dinner rolls. Reservations are strongly encouraged!
- Shari’s Cafe and Pies: Historically Shari’s is offering a special, limited-time Holiday Menu for dine-in and dine-out, offering dinners thru Jan. 1. Contact your local restaurant to confirm hours of operation (locations in Bremerton, Silverdale and Port Orchard).
- That One Place: Head over to Port Orchard for That One Place’s Community Christmas Dinner from 1pm-4pm. Enjoy a Traditional Ham Dinner to anyone and everyone would would like to join, buffet/cafeteria style and at no cos to anyone.
Charleston, SC:
- Gabrielle, Hotel Bennett: The restaurant is offering a $155 prix fixe meal for Christmas, including luxe items like caviar, oxtail, and wagyu beef.
- Watch Rooftop Kitchen and Spirits: Celebrate Christmas above the city at the rooftop restaurant, offering a $35 Christmas plate of prime rib, garlic potatoes and honey roasted carrots.
- Iron Rose: The Iron Rose is offering a a “choose your own adventure” four-course prix fixe menu on Christmas Day. Choose from a variety of oysters, seared scallops, prime rib, Maine lobster, and more.
D.C.:
- Julii: Feeling French? Both Julii and sister spot Melina will be open for Christmas Eve Brunch and a shortened dinner service with the last seating at 8 p.m.
- Gravitas: Celebrate Christmas at a Michelin-starred restaurant! Gravitas is offering a three-course brunch on Christmas Eve ($90 per person) from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., as well as a four-course dinner ($145 per person) or six-course dinner ($195 per person) from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wine pairings are an additional $75 and $125 respectively.
- BARCA Pier & Wine Bar: For those in Alexandria, BARCA Pier is offering special menus for Christmas and New Years Eve, including lamb chops, crab stuffed jumbo shrimp and more.
Groton, CT:
- Stone Acres Farm: Reserve a dinner seating for the dinner series Winter Nights at Stone Acres Farm. Looking for something to do on New Year’s Eve? Enjoy a special New Year’s Eve menu.
- Shipwright’s Daughter: The Shipwright’s Daughter in Mystic is hosting a special Christmas Eve Dinner, this is one you don’t want to miss. Be sure to reserve your table here.
Guam:

Kings Bay, GA:
- Coast, Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island: Don’t miss the Christmas Day Buffet! Chef Victor Hugo Salgo brings the abundance of the season to light with a bounty of ingredients sourced from local fishermen and farmers. Celebrate Christmastime with family and friends while dining on local and holiday classics. $155 for guests ages 10 and older, $79 for children ages 4 – 9. Service charge and tax are not included. - Sunrise Cafe, Omni Amelia Island Resort: Join us for Christmas Day Buffet at Sunrise Café. Enjoy quality time with friends and family, and let us take care of the rest! Norfolk/Hampton Roads, VA:
- Saltine’s: This holiday season Saltine’s is cooking up lots of holiday celebrations! Join them for their Christmas Eve Brunch With Santa, Christmas Dinner or New Year’s Eve! Reservations available through OpenTable.
- The Cavalier Hotel: Alongside spectacular holiday decorations throughout the property, enjoy Christmas Eve or Christmas Day dinner with a specialty three-course menu of delectable holiday fare at Becca Restaurant & Garden. Dinner is 5pm-9pm, breakfast and brunch menus available 7am-2pm.
Pearl Harbor, HI:
- StripSteak: StripSteak is a modern American steakhouse combined with a unique blend of Asian influence by signature Chef Michael Mina flair. Cost: $129 per person, check out their menu!
- Monkeypod Kitchen Waikiki: Have Christmas Eve dinner while enjoying the beautiful HI sunset with monk seals swimming in the distance. Make your reservation here.
- Basalt: Basalt is open for Christmas Eve and has great dine-in Christmas Day Specials as well as a prime rib family meal package for pick up on Christmas Eve or Day.
Portsmouth, NH:
- Library Restaurant: Library is offering a special Christmas Eve menu, including filet mignon, Austrailian wagyu, baked stuffed haddock with lobster and more.
- Jumpin’ Jays Fish Cafe: Seafood lovers, rejoice! Jumpin’ Jays will offer a festive menu for New Year’s Eve including four creative meal choices including seafood platters of butter cracker lobster cakes, spiced short ribs, snow crab croquettes and more!
- The Wilder: The Wilder will be open on Christmas Eve for brunch (closing at 3:30pm), as well as New Year’s Eve for a French Bistro Takeover! Follow their social media channels for more details.
San Diego, CA:
- Avant, Rancho Bernardo Inn: Avant will be open for four-course dinners, featuring wagyu strip loin or Alaskan halibut, on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. A Christmas Day buffet with live entertainment will take place in the ballroom.
- Paradisaea: Paradisaea will be open on Christmas Eve for a three-course dinner between 4 and 8 p.m. Options include burrata with pears, prime rib with Yorkshire pudding, and sticky toffee pudding. Cost is $95 for adults and $45 for children.
