As we head into the heat of the summer, below are some places to cool off! This list includes both indoor activity centers and pools/water features!
St. Mary’s Aquatic Center
Located in St. Marys, the St Mary’s Aquatic Center is a hidden gem. We didn’t find out about it until we had been stationed here an entire summer. This small water park features a fun splash pad, lazy river, and a lap pool with a tall water slide. You can check out their Facebook page for more information on when they open for the 2022 season!
Aquatic Complex at MWR Kings Bay
The Aquatics Complex run by the MWR at Kings Bay has a variety of offerings for those looking for some water fun. Beginning in June, the Aquatics Center is open Thursday-Sunday. It features a pool, kiddie splash pad, pavilions for rent, water slide and offers summer movies at the pool.
The CRAB at Kings Bay
I think the CRAB is one of the best little secrets about Kings Bay. This indoor play area is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9am until 5pm. There is a per person fee of $4 for anyone over 12 months old. The CRAB recently underwent a renovation and the amenities include bounce houses, a soft-play area, dramatic play area, children’s library, indoor play structure and much more!
Jacksonville Zoo and Garden
Did you know that there is a splash pad and playground at the Jacksonville Zoo? The splash pad is open daily, weather permitting, from 10am until 5pm. It is already open for the summer! The Jacksonville Zoo also offers a variety of events throughout the summer for kids and adults to enjoy!
Fernandina Beach Pinball Museum
This museum is located on Amelia Island. The Pinball Museum allows patrons to play pinball while learning about the history of the arcade game. This is a great place to go if you need a break from the beach!
Last but not least, there are plenty of beaches in the area to enjoy! Where do you go to beat the heat in the Kings Bay Area? Comment to add to our list!
