
Thanksgiving is only a week away! For military families living in the Norfolk and Hampton Roads region, there are some great options for eating out and giving back this season. Here’s a quick list:
Where to Grab Thanksgiving Dinner
- Hank’s Filling Station – Get a back yard smoked turkey, fixin’s, and even dessert from Hank’s filling station in Norfolk. Order by Nov 17th and pickup on Nov 22nd or the 23rd.
- Thanksgiving Day Lunch Cruise – Spend a couple hours cruising on the Elizabeth River. Ticket includes a buffet-style lunch, coffee, hot tea, and iced tea with the opportunity to purchace cocktails, wine, and beer from the bar. Children 2 years old and under are free.
- Cooper’s Hawk Winery – In Virginia Beach, order a “heat & serve” meal for 6 people by Nov 18th for minimal hassle. (Wine club members get 10% off).
- NAVSTA Norfolk MWR Thanksgiving Harvest – Rates E-1 to E-6 can enjoy a free Thanksgiving Harvest on Nov 23rd from 3-6pm at building Q-80. There will be food, a pie eating contest, and a chance to win prizes.
- NAVSTA Norfolk MWR Turkeybowl – Rates E-1 to E-6 can enjoy the Turkeybowl in building C-9 on Nov 24th from noon to 8pm. There will be food, games, and chances to win prizes.
- The Grey Goose – Order a complete Thanksgiving meal for 8 for pickup on Nov 23rd from The Grey Goose in Hampton. Dinner includes Roasted Turkey, Gravy, Cranberry Chutney, Stuffing, 2 Sides, 12 Rolls, and 1 pie.
- Mango Mangeaux – Serving 8-10 people you can get a stuffed Turkey Breast with Creole Gravy and add half pans of sides a la carte. You can also choose to order dessert and drinks – make it easy for yourself! Pickup is on Nov 23rd from 3-5pm in Hampton.
Ways to Give Back
- Thanksgiving Give & Receive Event – On Nov 19th there will be a Give and Receive event in Hampton at the Kenneth Wallace Center. You may sign up to GIVE a turkey or you may sign up to RECEIVE a turkey if you are in need.
- Mayflower Marathon Food Drive – From Nov 18-20th donate non-perishable items to the foodbank for families in need during the holidays. With two locations, one in VA Beach and one in Suffolk, you can drop items off to volunteers during the 57 hour food drive.
