Groton, Connecticut is surrounded by gorgeous views and delicious seafood, this we know. However, did you know the region has an excellent selection of cocktails?
Whether it’s date night or happy hour, these bars and drinks are my favorite:
Olio (Groton)

Located right off of interstate 95, Olio has a great atmosphere. They are open throughout the week for lunch and dinner. To embrace the season, try their new Apple Cider Sangria or Pumpkin Spice Martini, both featuring a cinnamon sugar rim! If you’re still holding onto summer, order their year-round Key West Cooler, made with Mailbu, Stoli vanilla, and fresh squeezed lime juice.
Rio Salado (Mystic)

Located right off of exit 90, Rio Salado is a Mexican restaurant that will leave your tastebuds satisfied! They are open for lunch, dinner, happy hour and weekend brunch. You can’t go wrong with any of their cocktails. My personal favorite is the Pina Asada Margarita (Spicy): made with house-infused habanero tequila, vanilla, lime, and a grilled pineapple and sugar garnished on the rim.
Mix Rooftop & Bar (Mystic)

You probably already know and love Sift Bake Shop in Mystic. But what about their rooftop bar? Grab a pastry before you head upstairs to Mix, which offers a variety of snacks and unique cocktails and mocktails. For a refreshing fall drink, try their Fig and Sage Cocktail, made with fig syrup, all spice, ginger beer, spiced rum, and sage. If you want a mocktail, simply ask the server for ginger ale in lieu of spiced rum. Another great seasonal option is the Pumpkin Chai, made with vodka, pumpkin, chai tea and a cinnamon carmel rim.
The Social Bar + Kitchen (New London)

Located right in the heart of downtown New London, The Social Bar + Kitchen is a modern kitchen and bar serving up great drinks for brunch and dinner and great events. Don’t miss their End of Summer House Sangria, a seasonal sangria made with Pinot Grigio, house-infused berry vodka, berry simple, Triple Sec, apple juice and finished with sprite.
